Nancy Boler was introduced to yoga in Nepal while she was teaching mathematics in the Peace Corps in 1994. Her experience of inexplicable peace and simplicity in Nepal led her to seek a yoga practice when she returned. She began her formal practice in 1997, was certified in 2000 at the Kripalu Center for Yoga in Lenox, Massachusetts. She continues training at Kripalu and also studies Iyenger yoga in Minneapolis with William Prottengeier.
Nancy's compassionate, mindful, and detailed teaching style stems not only from her trainings, but also from years of working as a secondary math teacher. Kripalu style yoga is a deeper experience of meditative movement, breath awareness and compassion. Iyenger style yoga offers rigorous detail of physical alignment. Nancy blends the two together while encouraging each student on their path of Self-study and awareness.
Silke Schroeder began studying yoga in 1996 and has been teaching since 2000. Her work is a synthesis of her training with Rod Stryker, founder of Para Yoga, and her study with visiting masters from India's Bihar School of Yoga, as well as with Kripalu teachers. Also having studying massage and myofacial release therapies, Silke draws from various modalities to enrich each class.
Through asana (postures), vinyasa (choreography, flow of postures), pranayama (science of breath), and meditation, Silke's classes are an exploration of our inherent vitality and wisdom. And yes, you'll get a good workout. Each eight week series focuses on a specific aspect of yoga philosophy.
